Church Owned - Volunteer Led
Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry
ABCCM is generously supported by over 300 churches of all denominations and 6,000+ trained volunteers and provides emergency assistance to anyone in need regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, religion, or disability. ABCCM stimulates doing together what individual congregations and individuals cannot do separately. While responding to meet emergency needs, we develop strategic plans to address root causes of poverty, take steps to achieve independent living skills and restore lives in the community. We accomplish this through these ministries: Crisis Ministry, Jail Ministry, Medical Ministry, Transformation Village, Veterans Restoration Quarters, Veteran Services of the Carolinas, and Recovery Living Center.

What People Are Saying
Hear it directly from our volunteers! You are likely to hear that volunteering at ABCCM is one of the most rewarding experiences of their life.
“We have really enjoyed ourselves. We are here for part of our Baptist association Operation Inasmuch project. And we are so excited as to tell you that we have enjoyed breaking down food to help give into food packets, to serve our local community here in Candler.
It's been a lot of fun. Yay. Yay. It's been a little messy. So if you're looking to have a good time. You'll be blessed and come serve your community!"

"I've been able to have something tangible to do while my wife and I wait for mission work overseas. It's been really good for my mental health to have tangible goals, to sit down and get things to do. Data entered and then to be able to look back and say, wow, you know, I was able to accomplish this has been a real blessing too, to be able to come and to not only help with that, but to be helped as well.
It's been a great experience. The relationships here are awesome and there's just some, some great people here. The Holy Spirit's definitely working in this place and I really do enjoy that."

"We're from Mount Pisgah Academy. We come here usually about every Friday to volunteer and help Ms. Christie out organize the place. Our students are going to tell you a little bit about what we do. We got to sort baby clothes and regular clothes. We hauled a bunch of food stuffs from a closet to the general storage area and organized it. We help rearrange the lobby. We straightened out the pants and shirts. So the shelves look nice. Yeah, we had a great time doing it."

"I volunteer with ABCCM in Candler and I enjoy it. I like the people I work with. It's a nice social fit for me, considering that I'm retired. And I enjoy the fact that I feel like I'm really doing something useful for the community.
We distribute food and clothing and some other essential services. And I just feel like it's a really good thing to do. And a good little exercise here running around, stocking the shelves, et cetera."

"I'm a case manager here at ABCCM Transformation Village. I was hired on about a month ago. Very happy to be here and working with the women and the children here as well. I used to work in foster care. So it comes naturally to me working with women, but especially happy to be here and be in this community and working also alongside the women that I'm working with. They are all fabulous women with a great passion to help people."
