Crisis Ministry

We need volunteers in the following areas:

  • Soup kitchen/food pantry volunteers to sort food on shelves, prepare food bags for families, and prepare soup and sandwiches to feed hungry people
  • Clothing Room volunteer to organize donations, restock, and assist clients in finding needed clothing
  • Counselors to interview clients to assess their needs and determine possible solutions to their crises
  • In-kind Donations including but not limited to: blankets, canned meats (Spam, stew, tuna, salmon, etc.), self-rising flour, sugar, hot and cold cereal, canned fruits, saltine crackers, cooking oil, juices, canned soups, pasta, pasta sauce, jelly, and fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables

Veterans Restoration Quarters (VRQ)

At the VRQ, we welcome individual volunteers, families, and groups--whether from churches, business, or just a group of friends. We need volunteers in the following areas:

  • Cook teams to help prepare and serve meals (individual or group)
  • Barbers/beauticians to do hair cuts 
  • Work teams for building and beautification projects on campus.
  • Teachers & facilitators to lead classes such as Bible studies, art, music, computer skills, life skills in the areas of communication, esteem building, emotion management, financial counseling, housing 
  • Front desk receptionists
  • Data entry clerk 
  • Entertainment - singing, musical performances, skits and other creative efforts.
  • Chaplains to listen and offer spiritual information and prayer. 

Steadfast House

At Steadfast House, we welcome individual volunteers, families, and groups--whether from churches, business, or just a group of friends. We need volunteers in the following areas:

  • Cook teams to help prepare and serve meals
  • Work Teams for building and beautification projects on campus
  • Teachers & Facilitators to lead various classes such as Bible studies, art, music, computer skills, life skills in the areas of communication, esteem building, emotion management for depression or anger, financial counseling, housing and Jobs for Life.
  • Help with childcare and ministering with the children
  • Data entry
  • Entertainment - singing, musical performances, skits and other creative efforts.
  • Chaplains to listen and offer spiritual information and prayer

We need volunteers in the following areas:

Jail Ministry

Volunteering with the jail ministry is different than volunteering in other areas of ABCCM.  You must complete a background check, attend the Buncombe County Detention Center volunteer orientation, attend an ABCCM volunteer orientation, and you must be at least 21 years old. We need volunteers in the following areas:

  • Monthly Bible Study Leaders
  • Group Discussion Leaders
  • Library Assistants
  • Tutors
  • Mentors
  • Chaplains
