Company Overview: Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry (ABCCM) creates opportunities for churches to work in collaboration and cooperation to serve the critical needs of their neighbors. ABCCM is a coalition of area churches that responds to emergency assistance needs in Asheville and Buncombe County for those incarcerated, the homeless, families in poverty and the uninsured. Description: Founded in 1969 by eight Buncombe County churches, ABCCM is now a cooperative ministry of 271 congregations and over 3600 volunteers responding to the needs of our community through different caring ministries.

    • Crisis Ministry has four locations around the county providing emergency assistance to individuals and families such as food, clothing, furniture and financial assistance for heat, utilities and rent/mortgage, etc.
    • Homeless Ministry has two transitional housing facilities. Our men are at the Veterans Restoration Quarters offers 235 beds in a nationally recognized program. Our women and children (including veterans) are at Steadfast House offering transitional housing for 29 single women and up to 7 moms with children with an average daily occupancy of 43.
    • Medical Ministry is a Free Clinic for the uninsured in Buncombe County. We offer medical services for acute and essential primary care; provide dental services through extractions, cleanings, and fillings; and, our licensed pharmacy distributes over one million dollars in prescriptions each year.
    • Jail Ministry provides inmates with new meaning and direction through pastoral counseling, Bible studies, and educational materials.
    • Veterans Employment & Training Services (VETS) and Green Jobs assist with skills assessment, training, job placement and coaching for those seeking new career level jobs to break the bonds of homelessness and poverty.
    • The ABCCM Circles Campaign aids families in transitioning out of poverty by mentoring them with a network of volunteers and cultural education.

ABCCM is a key non-profit organization addressing poverty, hunger, the incarcerated, homelessness and access to health care for the uninsured in Buncombe County.
