"Welcome Home", you would be surprised at how many of our homeless veterans hear this for the first time at ABCCM's Veterans Restoration Quarters. The first question we hear is, "How soon do I have to leave?" To their surprise, the answer is, "You are home!" Operation Welcome Home is our way of giving veterans the education and training that leads to a career level job that takes them all the way to re-establishing their own HOME.
The founder of HonorAir, Jeff Miller, has spent the last five years on a mission to fly all of our areas WWII veterans to Washington, DC to visit the WWII Memorial. As this effort comes to a succesful end, thanks to the substanial partnership with the American Legion Post 77 and the members of Rotary District 7670, a new project is under way. HonorAir's next mission is to Welcome Home all of our veterans, especially the homeless, those who are at risk of becoming homeless, or those that simply need the education and training to pursue a new career. HonorAir is teaming up with community leaders, civic and veteran groups to make this a reality through Operation Welcome Home. ABCCM has already won the "Best Practice" recognition at the national level as cited by the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans and US-DOL's Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program. The Veterans Restoration Quarters (VRQ) is the third largest campus of its kind in the USA and repeatedly is ranked among the top three in outcome measurements. This program works and in doing so, gives our veterans hope.
